Brigaders are the girls who are over 14 years. We
have around 6 young ladies in this section. We wear a uniform consisting of a white shirt with red and blue tie, navy skirt, navy
sweatshirt, black tights, and black shoes.
Brigader Triangles
Brigader badges are called Triangles. There are three
triangles; white, green and blue; which can be earned. It takes
approximately a year to work towards each triangle. For each triangle five
subjects, containing a minimum of four hours work, must be completed.
Subjects are chosen by the Brigader but must contain one from each of the four sections – Spiritual, Physical, Educational and Service
plus a fifth subject selected from any one of those sections.
Brigader Brooch
After all three triangles have been awarded, the Brigader begins work for her Brigader Brooch.
Attendance Awards
Girls can also gain attendance awards in the form of badges which are pinned
to
the armband along with the Circles: -
- Company Service – gained by attending 75% of Company nights.
- Church Service – awarded to girls who regularly attend a Church
or Junior
Church.
Brigaders can also become Young Leaders, working for
Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced Levels. Upon successful completion of each
level a badge is awarded. Girls have to be in Year 10 at school to begin
their training. They need to study various modules chosen from:
Communication; Faith Issues; GB Foundations; Preparing, Planning and Delivery;
Team Work; Practical.
To achieve Foundation Level four modules need completion.
Five are completed to achieve Intermediate Level. Advanced Level requires
six modules plus demonstration of ongoing participation in the Christian Faith.
All three Levels require completion of one module from Faith Issues as well as
Practical Work.
All Young Leaders are asked to help within the
company at various levels, from the Explorers to Brigaders. They are
of tremendous help to all the Officers and Leaders, and we are very proud of our
Young Leaders and of the help and time they give.
Apart from badge work, the girls undertake many other activities, such as
craft,
games, outings, etc. The Brigaders are also invited to our annual Summer
Camp, when we go away for five days with the Juniors, Seniors
and Brigaders. At Christmas, we either hold a Fun Night, which usually involves us having a
disco or taking an outing
somewhere.
In July, we hold a Display and Awards Evening, when the Brigaders all take
part in
an item in the Display, and also receive any badges they have worked for all
year
and any shields they have been awarded. We then round off the year with an end of year party, with food and games.
Our Brigaders, in addition to our own badge work which
includes the highest award -
Queen's Award,
and between the ages of 14-25 you can also work towards the
Duke of
Edinburgh Award.
