Increase the value of charity donations

Mr Phill Maxted left us in January 2005 to work with Atlantic Bridge in Most, Czech Republic.

A short history

Atlantic Bridge has been active in the Czech Republic since 1992. The first school we worked with was the Masarykova Gymnazium in Pilzen. They did an exchange with American youth at a US army base in Germany and had several musicians in their school. Christian artists and teams also visited other schools and churches in the Pilzen region. In 1995 Atlantic Bridge moved its focus to Northern Bohemia, an industrial area which the Czechs call the most atheistic part of the Czech Republic. We started there with a 2 week tour of a British musician, Steve Flashman. After a successful tour many others came and visited schools all over the North Bohemia. Eric Engerbretson,  Ray Lafever and Beggars Fortune from the USA, Double Check and Freddie Kofi from England, Steve Apirana from New Zeeland, etc.

Since 1994 we started bringing Czech youth to International Youth Festivals. First a group of 7 from Prague to the festival in the Dutch town of Goes, than a group of 20 to the Danish festival. From then on we had each year between 20 and 30 Czech students attend our International Youth Festivals. In 1997 the first International Youth Festival was organized in the Czech Republic, in the beautiful southern town of Mikulov with 140 youth from various countries attending. In 1998 a festival was organised in Louny, in 1999 and 2001 in Liberec, and in 2003 in Slapy on the banks of  the river south of Prague.

Since 1995 many Czech Bridgebuilders have also been on exchanges, mostly to The Netherlands, some to Germany and the USA. Bridgebuilders from Decin, Liberec, Louny, Semily, Most, Slany and Upice.

In 1999 Atlantic Bridge was officially incorporated in the Czech Republic with an office in Liberec. As of 2004 our focus has become building regional structures (Regional Youth Contacts)  for developing Bridgebuilders Clubs starting with the region Most.  Learn more about Atlantic Bridge
